Ceramic Art & Sculpture
Made by hand from clay and glazed after firing, the figures are inspired by fashion and nature. They are purely decorative pieces.
Based in Stradbally, Co. Laois, Polish-born Edyta
Szymanska makes ceramic sculptures based on the human
form. Working mainly with clay the sculptress creates
small figurative pieces and large scale public art. Her work
is concerned with the human figure – mostly females –
interpreted through colour and accessorised with bags
and flowers.
The wildly hueful designs range from 40 cm in height to large art installations measuring two metres tall. The Food Gallery on Dublin’s Thomas Street has one such installation by Edyta in their restaurant.
