‘SAVAGE BEAUTY’ – SPRING SUMMER 2012-13
As we pull ourselves from a period of uncertainty and austerity, the wild beauty of the jungle enters urban life to bring spirit and adventure that takes our daily lives out of the ordinary. We take a turn away from safe style stalwarts and face the challenges of the world with a fearless riot of exotic colour and pattern.
Energetic animal prints and ethnic ikat patterns come out of the wild and into our homes and wardrobes in strong, bold shots of red, purple, green and blue. Colour and print know no limits, and there are no rules when it comes to mixing and matching. Clash with confidence and go with vivid styles to accentuate the exoticism.
Texture adds to the drama, taking the lead from nature with high-on-touch natural materials such as feathers, sisal, wood and fine wool.
‘ORDINARY HEROES’ - SPRING SUMMER 2012-13

The apparent simplicity of this trend belies the real luxury that is at its core. Consumers with a conscience look for a pensive, romantic look to convey their depth of thought. The well-travelled individual knows the value of comfort and has a keen sense of quality that speaks for itself, without need for in-your-face, flashy style.
Soft colour and flowing shapes aid and abet the sophisticated modern traveler to get to their destination in chic comfort. Tonal neutrals convey a delicate air. Biscuit and beige shades are given gentle depth with soft pinks and faded blues.
Cottons and linens with lace detailing create garments with a clean, timeless style. Embossed ceramics, touchy-feely velvets and crocheted soft furnishings bring the dreamy air into the home.
‘TWISTED PUNK’ – AUTUMN WINTER 2012-13

As we learn to live in a more pared-back manner, we seek out an uplifting note amid the mundane. The consumer appreciates the value of heritage, but also has a witty, tongue-in-cheek take on old-school looks that celebrates creativity and quirkiness.
We look to inject old-school styles with a sense of fun and irreverence to put a modern spin on traditional patterns and motifs, most particularly tartans and detailed plaids. A base palette of solid, reassuring colours – grey, claret, navy - gets a punky update with perky, unexpected pinks and energetic shades of red and yellow.
Strong, reliable fabrics take centre stage: tweeds and wools with leather detailing give a crucial sense of stability amid the escapism.
‘TRUE SOPHISTICATE’ – AUTUMN WINTER 2012-13

True sophistication has returned in the aftermath of the reckless, hedonistic spending of boom times. Silver screen looks are back to reign, with the worldly confidence to embrace individual, eccentric touches. The glamour of the Orient and opulence of Hollywood are reassuring reminders of style that endures.
Metallics have a devil-may-care vibe that is brought back down to earth by a palette of rich, dark tones – russets, mustards, caramelised ochre, amber cognac and honey. There is an emphasis on selecting key pieces, investing wisely in quality classics that celebrate modern innovations.
Silk and leather add that essential luxe to fashion, while marble and intricately-cut glass make a statement in the home.
