Margaret Rattigan is an Irish artist based in Boyle, County Roscommon. Originally from County Leitrim, she followed her lifelong passion for creativity after a 35-year career in retail management, transitioning to become a full-time artist.
Working primarily in acrylics, watercolours, and water-mixable oils, Margaret’s distinctive style combines expressive colour, gentle realism, and emotional depth. Her work often incorporates gold foil and textured detail, creating luminous, atmospheric pieces that capture both beauty and memory.
Deeply inspired by the landscapes, wildlife, and coastline of the Northwest of Ireland, Margaret’s paintings evoke a strong sense of place and nostalgia. Her art reflects themes of connection, reflection, and nature’s quiet magic moments “where art meets heart.”
Margaret’s work has been exhibited at Solas Gallery Ballinamore, Boyle Arts Festival and Heartlands exhibition in Longford.Her paintings have found homes across Ireland and internationally, including the UK, USA, Australia, Canada and Europe. She has currently work in four stockists in the Northwest of Ireland. She has completed a solo exhibition, judged art competitions, and is a professional member of Visual Artists Ireland.
Through her business, Margaret Rattigan Art, she creates original paintings, limited-edition prints, fine art cards, and unique art jewellery inspired by her own artwork. Her current collections explore Irish landscapes, seascapes, florals, and wildlife , celebrating nature’s enduring beauty.
