Famous (and funny) author and illustrator, Chris Judge, brings his brand to Showcase
Where are you based?
We are based in Drumcondra in Dublin.
What's your brand name?
A Daily Cloud

Can you tell us a bit about yourselves?
A Daily Cloud is a project created by artist Chris Judge. Chris started making drawings on photographs of clouds during the Summer of 2020. Focusing on the beauty of clouds, Chris uses simple pencil lines to create a new image every day of different characters and animals on either his own photos or ones submitted to him, which he shares on Instagram. He has amassed a following of over 650k followers from all over the world and the project has become a global sensation with followers like Jennifer Garner, Carol Vordeman and Jack Black sharing images over the years. A Daily Cloud was also featured on The Drew Barrymore show and New York Times.
The A Daily Cloud store is run by Chris and his partner, Clíona, a photographer and designer. Together from their studio in Ireland, they design beautiful greeting cards, calendars and prints for their online store, sharing the joy of clouds with the world.

Tell us about your business and products?
Our main focus at the moment is greetings cards and calendars based on the cloud art. The cloud artworks work brilliantly in these formats as they are such familiar images. A Daily Cloud just seems to really resonate with people from all over the world. I think it's the mix of humour, nature and the universality of clouds that appeals to people. All you need to do is turn your head and you’ll see a cloud above you or through the window. We are also launching two other collections of cards that we are very excited about at Showcase 2026. One is based on my Lonely Beast children’s books and another called Animalarkey based on all the wonderful wildlife on earth.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I get inspiration from everywhere but especially while out in the wild either on hikes, at the various beaches in Dublin and Wicklow or even the local parks. Like so many people, lockdown was an especially vibrant time for me creatively. We were spending a lot of time in our garden with our daughters getting back to nature and taking lots of photographs. One very quiet and calm evening we spotted some beautiful pink clouds that looked like a monkey and a bear. My daughter Joey took photos of them and on a whim I drew very simple pencil lines on them and posted them on Instagram. There was a wonderful, positive reaction, so I decided to make one every day.

What are your brand values?
Our brand values are very much about creativity, positivity, fun, fairness and sustainability. We are very conscious of making quality products and spend lots of time working with our printers to get the right results in the most sustainable way.

What do you like most about what you do?
I feel very lucky that I get to draw everyday as my job. It was always my dream as a child and teenager that I might pursue it as a career. Over the years I have branched out into making children’s books, ongoing projects like A Daily Cloud, exhibitions and public art. Now with the launch of our cards and calendars I am very excited about sharing my artworks in affordable formats and hope they bring joy to buyers and receivers of the cards alike. We love hearing from shops and cafes and building relationships with them.

Is this your first time exhibiting at Showcase Ireland?
Yes this is our first time at Showcase Ireland! We are so thrilled to be taking part as we have heard so many positive things about it over the years. It was initially daunting at the prospect of being among so many established and talented brands and artists but the team in Showcase Ireland have been so helpful and supportive. We are very excited to share our work in January.
Where are your products currently stocked?
We are pretty new to wholesale as we were primarily B2B since 2020 and have just launched our wholesale side. We are currently stocked in The Ennis Bookshop, PadamPadam café in Dublin, Worm Books in Schull, Halfway Up the Stairs in Greystones, Pretty Shiny Shop in London and Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt in Germany with another 8-10 stores about to launch.

Is sustainability an important aspect of your business?
Absolutely, sustainability is huge priority with all of our products. They are all paper based and all our cards are printed in Ireland. We have two children aged 8 and 11 and we want to lead by example and leave a legacy that we can stand by and be proud of.
What's new for Showcase 2026?
We will be launching our three new greeting card collections as well as our Irish collection. We will also be launching our 2027 A Daily Cloud wall and desk calendars.
