Art by Caroline Duffy

She might be a new exhibitor at Showcase but artist and designer Caroline Duffy has plenty of experience in industry, having started her business in 2008 designing fashion prints for big brands, going on to launch her own label in 2021.

Duffy has quickly become known for a signature feminine style featuring exuberant botanical motifs. Alongside her popular original paintings and prints, she also designs clothing and accessories and has recently added beautiful woven throws to her portfolio.

She is passionate about creating art for the home as well as wearable art that has a strong focus on nature’s ability to uplift and heal.

Showcase 2023 will see Duffy exhibit her woven blankets, scarves, dresses, art, covered notebooks and art prints.

A finalist in the recent Irish Country Magazine Irish Made Awards 2022, Duffy is also committed to ensuring that every step of her production is as conscious as possible.

Her passion in life and design is “to be inspired, creative, connected, authentic and conscious” and to create timeless products designed to last and to be treasured for many years to come.

Siest Sleep

The Siest Sleep weighted sleep pillow.
Siest Sleep founder Síne Dunne has already won an impressive number of accolades for her medically recommended weighted sleep pillows. She was recently awarded Dublin Branch winner of Emerging Business Woman of The Year 2022 Network Ireland and her products have been a big hit with the media and customers alike since she launched the brand in 2021.

This patented innovative product is designed to help people sleep by tackling sleep problems, hip and knee pain in bed and stress and anxiety. The sensory-weighted sleep pillow is ethically  made in Dublin and  designed to look good and stay cool so you can sleep soundly.

Available in a number of different lengths, firmnesses and colour, there’s a product for everyone from age 5-plus. It retains its shape, holds you in place and feels like a hug. The product uses deep pressure therapy and proprioception to help soothe the senses and aid a great night’s sleep.

And it’s not just Siest Sleep customers that have noticed the benefits. Independent research was done in 2022 with Trinity College Dublin and funded by Enterprise Ireland. A four week pilot investigation into the potential of the Siest Sleep weighted sleeper pillow for children with mild sensory-related sleep challenges found that the participants reported significant improvement in how quickly they fell asleep, their sleep quality and how often they woke up during the night.

A handmade wooden butter knife by CK53.

Founder of CK53 Design, Pat Murphy has been working with wood for over 25 years, establishing his business five years ago. Murphy creates stylish, yet practical, modern interpretations of traditional wooden items including chopping boards, butter knives, coasters and other homewares.

The self-taught craftsman is known for his beautiful handmade homewares which include chopping boards, coasters, magnetic picture frames, clocks and decorative items. Pickled Pom Pom

A range of cards by Pickled Pom Pom.
Founder of the wonderfully named Pickled Pom Pom, Laura Dempsey, established her business in 2018 having previously worked as a childrenswear designer in the fashion industry.

Dempsey designs and illustrates her range of cards, prints and partyware in her small home studio in Co. Kildare. Her contemporary whimsical cards are designed to celebrate the big, and small, moments in life - some with a distinctly Irish flavour. Her print range includes delightful prints for babies’ and kids’ rooms or for that very Instagrammable feature wall.

Being ranked in the top three most-shopped Irish Etsy stores in 2020 led her to launch her own online store which has been going from strength to strength. Dempsey was selected to be a participant of the prestigious Going for Growth 2022 programme with Enterprise Ireland and KPMG. Meanwhile Pickled Pom Pom has been selected as part of the Arnotts Christmas Edit 2022 - a competitive process that makes them a brand to watch.

Mimi & Bowe

Organic cotton pyjamas by Mimi & Bowe.
The Mimi & Bowe brand was launched in 2020 right in the middle of the global pandemic - perfect timing then for a brand specialising in comfortable organic cotton pyjamas and loungewear for children.

Mimi & Bowe was created with comfort, style and sustainability at its heart. The tops and bottoms are designed to match - or not - and all the garments are made with 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. Designed to be soft and cosy, yet hard wearing, these are pjs designed to be handed down to siblings or little friends.

“Its principle of interchangeability – mixing colours, tops and bottoms or styling out mono-combinations – was always imagined as cosy clothes for sleepyheads who may not want to change before they hit the playground,” says brand founder Olwen Mc Auliffe.

Mimi & Bowe has gained a great deal of customer and media attention in the past two years and has just been awarded Silver in the prestigious Junior Design Awards UK for Best Children’s Sleepwear Collection.

This season, inspired by customer requests, Mimi & Bowe has also launched ladies’ pyjamas in spots and stripes for the first time. At Showcase 2023 she will be showing all of these main lines of product and will have swatches available to show buyers her new range of colours for 2023.
