Showcase Spotlight: Linda Proudfoot
How did you become an artist?
Growing up with dyslexia, art became my superpower - a source of confidence and joy that continues to inspire me today. I hold a degree in Textile Design and Embroidery from the National College of Art & Design (NCAD) where I developed a deep appreciation for texture, colour and detail. My current work focuses on painting landscapes, inspired by nature’s ever-changing light and mood. Through my art, I explore emotion and reflection, finding solace in the natural world. My aim is to evoke a sense of calm and mindfulness, offering viewers a peaceful escape through each brushstroke. I also create bespoke commissioned paintings that are meaningful gifts which capture personal memories and connections to special places.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I am inspired by the beautiful landscapes here in Ireland. I draw inspiration from the everchanging light and colours in the nature around me.
What do you like most about what you do?
I love the connections I have made with the public through my art. It has been such a pleasure to create art that people connect with and I never stop being grateful when someone wants to bring my work into their home.
Is this your first time exhibiting at Showcase in the RDS?
Yes, it is, and I am so excited to be at Showcase 2026. I’m proud of my work and I really hope to convey that to visitors to the show.
Where have you shown or stocked your paintings to date?

I’ve shown at Kennedy’s Gallery, Dublin; Market Gallery, Cork; The Western Light Gallery, Mayo; Dún Laoghaire Harbour Horizon Artists; People’s Art at St. Stephen’s Green; ArtSource in Dublin; The Red Stables, Dublin, The Bradbury Gallery, Dublin and more.
What's new for Showcase 2026?
I am always working on new ideas and am currently creating new pieces reflecting my fascination with Irish native animals in the landscape.
