Tell us about your business.

MAMO is an Irish wellness brand handcrafting small-batch soaps, candles and natural dog grooming products in Co. Wicklow. Led by a mother, daughter and son team, the brand is inspired by the Irish landscape and the “rituals that bring people back to their roots”. Each piece is made by hand using foraged herbs, Irish honey and other sustainable ingredients. In Bulgarian, MAMO means “calling for your mother” - it’s a word that means comfort, safety and grounding. Born from burnout and loss, the brand grew into a gentle philosophy: that when life unravels, the smallest acts of care can help us find our way back to ourselves.

Tell us about your products.

Our collection includes six herbal-infusion soaps (also available as loofah bars with a natural sponge inside), two gentle face soaps, six soy candles including two sculptural pillar candles and a natural dog care line.  Every piece in the collection is hand-wrapped, affirmation-labelled, and finished with a handwritten card and a hidden wish tucked beneath the lid - small details that feel personal. Each soap is cold-processed and slowly cured with Irish honey, foraged herbs and clays, hosting quiet affirmations like ‘Feel Abundance’ and ‘Find Flow’. The candle line pairs Irish storytelling with scent - each one is inspired by a traditional Irish proverb from “Níl aon tinteán mar do thinteán féin” to “Níl sa saol ach seal.” The dog care range blends Irish botanicals and medicinal mushrooms such as Lion’s Mane, Chaga and Cordyceps into solid shampoo bars, a paw-and-nose balm as well as plant-based coat spray. All of these products are gentle, alcohol-free and made to human-grade standards.

What is your own background and how does it feed into what you’re doing at MAMO?

With over 30 years’ experience working with natural ingredients, I bring together my background in Food Engineering, Chemistry and Perfumery to create products where Irish craft, sensory experience and botanical science meet. My approach is guided by respect for raw materials - herbs foraged or grown locally, natural oils and slow, traditional processes. Each MAMO product reflects my belief that care, ritual and patience can transform the ordinary into something deeply restorative.

Where do you get your inspiration?

Our inspiration comes from both the land and life itself. I find it in the quiet rhythm of making - in the transformation of raw, natural ingredients into something beautiful and useful. Geri, our co-founder, draws hers from meaning - how simple rituals can ground us when life feels overwhelming. But MAMO also grew from personal moments of burnout and loss, when slowing down and working with our hands became a way to heal. That experience continues to guide us and is a reminder that beauty and care are not about perfection, but about presence, patience and meaning.

What are your brand values?

At MAMO, our values are rooted in honesty, care and respect - for people, materials and the land. We believe in making things slowly and with intention, using natural ingredients that are safe, effective and sustainable. Every product is designed to last, to be used, loved and valued rather than quickly replaced. We keep our processes transparent, our packaging minimal and our sourcing responsible. Above all, we value meaning - we create things that remind us to slow down, reconnect and care.

What do you like most about what you do?

What we love most is the quiet focus that comes with making things by hand. For me, it’s the satisfaction of turning raw ingredients into something useful and beautiful. For Geri, it’s knowing that each product can bring someone a small sense of calm or connection in their day.

Is sustainability an important aspect of your business?

Sustainability guides everything we do at MAMO. We think carefully about every decision - from the ingredients that we source to the way we package and ship. Many of our materials are reused or recycled; they may not look perfect, but they serve a purpose. We’d rather extend the life of what already exists than create more waste. For us, sustainability isn’t about appearances - it’s about honesty, respect for the land we work with and making products that last.

What's new for Showcase 2026?

We’re unveiling our expanded candle collection, our complete natural dog care line and our new botanical soaps with a natural loofah sponge inside. The candle collection pairs Irish proverbs with evocative scent stories, while the dog range combines Irish botanicals and medicinal mushrooms for gentle, effective care. The loofah soaps combine cleansing and exfoliation in one - they are practical, textural and made to last.
