Tell us about your business/ product?
A young potter returned home from training in Japan and set up his own small pottery in a family cowshed. This was in 1976, 50 years ago. Nicholas Mosse Pottery Ltd. was born. Half a century later, founder Nick and his wife Susan and their incredible team are celebrating our anniversary with pride as well as our incredible 51st year at Showcase as we look forward to many more.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Nicholas Mosse is an ecologically minded ceramic workshop which has grown and grown over the years; its original inspiration was always the country of Ireland and the history of Ireland’s folk traditions. Today it is a strong medium sized business with well-trained craftspeople making handmade table and giftware.
What do you like most about what you do?
The pottery is proud of its exceptional quality and variety of designs. It is said that every home in Ireland has a piece of Nicholas Mosse Pottery. Many years ago the pottery collaborated with such stores as Bloomingdales and Tiffany’s, and even now we supply Liberty of London and JW Anderson. We have outlets around the world and are encouraged to see that the rising trend for handmade items continues to grow in Ireland and beyond.
