Scallop Trinket Dish
I design and create sustainable trinket dishes using Irish scallop shells reclaimed from the food industry. Once the scallop meat is removed, these shells are typically crushed and repurposed for agricultural drainage. Instead, they are carefully collected, cleaned, and transformed into decorative, functional objects that celebrate both material beauty and responsible design.

Each shell is individually hand painted and finished with beautifully patterned fabrics, giving every trinket dish its own unique character. The natural shape and texture of the scallop shell ensures that no two pieces are the same, while the layered finishes add colour, depth, and visual interest. All pieces are handcrafted in small batches, allowing for close attention to detail and minimal material waste.

By repurposing a natural by-product, the process reduces waste and extends the life of a material that would otherwise be discarded. The resulting trinket dishes are lightweight yet durable, ideal for holding jewellery or small keepsakes, and designed to bring a sense of quiet luxury and storytelling into everyday spaces.
