Irish Dresden creates fine porcelain lace figurines and giftware products adored the world over. Irish Dresden is the culmination of a long history of unique hand-crafted porcelain originating in East Germany and through political and economic upheaval being reborn in Ireland in the 1960s. The unique character of our porcelain lace figurines combines the imagination of the artist with the skill of the craftsperson. This process, which begins with an artist’s drawing and design proceeds through many stages including air-drying, baking and combining our real cotton lace with porcelain clay, glazing and baking again as the figurine is formed and the lace material burns away, leaving its delicate pattern in the porcelain. Each individual figurine is individually hand-painted by our expert artists who must complete years of training in order to master this craft. Thereafter their artistry is paint-fired to become the precious fine art that is Irish Dresden. An original and beautiful gift to give and receive, handcrafted in Dromcolliher, County Limerick.
